Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rubbermaid Antimicrobial Large Dish Drainer, BlackCustomer Review: Rubbermaid should be ashamed Summary: 1 Stars
I have been buying Rubbermaid dish drainers since I got my first apartment back in the '70s and took their quality for granted. In the last couple of years, Rubbermaid has cheapened this simple product to the degree that it no longer works like it should. The newer drainers are not as heavy, the prongs are not tall enough to hold a larger dinner plate upright (anything over 10" will tip) and their angle is wrong, the oblong flatware caddy is an abomination in all ways mainly by not holding utensils straight up so they can dry with fewer water spots - not to mention knife points getting stuck in the oval slots, and the vinyl coating is inferior.
Shame on Rubbermaid for dirty-ing its name by offering such a crappy version of one of its original brand-building products. It's obvious Rubbermaid has no respect for its American consumers and it's too bad that young adults just starting out will not realize that this product is junk. I will not buy another Rubbermaid drainer; I prefer to pay more for something that will perform and last longer.
Customer Review: Don't waste your money for 1 year of service Summary: 1 Stars
I actually just got online to find a replacement to THIS dish drainer! It's amazing to me that this is the #1 seller on Amazon - it's garbage! Some of these reviews are from years ago, so perhaps the design has since been changed. I moved into my current apartment in April 2009 and the rusting started on this thing a month ago, so it lasted all of 15 months. I've cleaned it religiously, so there's no reason for rust or any poor wear and tear. I can't even imagine what would have happened had I used this for a whole household of people - this drainer served just two people!
I'll gladly spend more so that I have one that lasts years. Off I go!
Customer Review: Not so great Summary: 1 Stars
Dishdrainer and drain board were a waste of money. What a disappointment. The dishdrainer is so flimsey. The wire is about 1/3 of my 10 year old rubbermaid. I'm not sure it can even hold my dishes. Also the drainboard is just a little weak piece of plastic. What the heck happened to Rubbermaid? What a bunch of crap!
