Customer Review: Great value for those on a budget!

I've always dreamed of having a custom closet but since I have California Closet taste on an IKEA budget, I thought that it was out of reach for me. :-) Then, I stumbled across the Rubbermaid Configurations Kit on Amazon. First of all, I must say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Amazon! I have purchased books here for years but only in the recent years have I begun venturing into other product categories. I am a SERIOUS bargain hunter and have found their prices to be very competitive. Couple that with FREE shipping and NO tax and I always manage to wrangle out a significant savings over local brick and mortar stores! So back to the review. After I read all of the 5 star reviews of other Amazon shoppers who have purchased this kit I knew I couldn't go wrong! My old setup was approx 9 feet of the standard hang rail and shelf on top. If you are tearing out existing hardware like I had to do, don't forget to include the cost of tools and materials for that (pry bar, nail hole filler, paint, etc). Just as everyone said in their reviews, the kit was amazingly easy to install. Several people mentioned having issues with the anchors, but mine installed effortlessly (call me lucky!). Installation was a snap - the main wall hardware was up in a couple of hours. Then came the FUN part - deciding on the perfect configuration! I was working with a 7 ft space so I just picked one of the sample setup pics from the box and voila! Done! In regards to accessories, I looked past the negative reviews on the pant rack and got it - but decided at the last minute not to use it, ironically. It does take up quite a bit of space for the size so I just kept the section that I was going to use it in as hanging space and purchased pant hangers instead. I also bought the Sliding Basket - LOVE IT, used it for my purses and plan to buy 2-3 more. I got the belt and tie rack as well and love the fact that it slides in and out! All in all, I'm thrilled with my new closet. Where I previously had just 9 feet of linear wall hanging space and a shelf on top, now I have 8 feet of hanging space, 8 feet of shelf space and a drawer! If you are unsure about purchasing this, in my opinion, this appears to be the best value in this price range. I almost purchased the comparative Closet Maid system but decided not to, since it got nowhere near the huge number of positive reviews. I checked IKEA but they only sell free standing closet systems. ELFA at Container Store was too expensive. So what are you waiting on?!
