Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rubbermaid 3H89 Configurations 4-to-8-Foot Deluxe Custom Closet Kit, TitaniumCustomer Review: Read the other reviews too! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a flexible closet kit, but do yourself a favor and take heed of the other's advice and buy wall fasteners for spans that don't line up with a stud! The ones that come with the kit are flimsy plastic and almost useless unless you have thin drywall. I found 3/8" Hilty "toggler" fasteners at Home Depot. They are better than standard toggle fasteners because the plastic strip holds the toggle in place instead of it dropping down the wall. If link doesn't work, then go to the Hilti website and search for "toggler bolt for drywall"

The kit might not look as good as a solid wood unit, but you can change your mind and shift the shelves to suit your needs, which you can't do with a fixed unit.
Customer Review: Would Buy Another! Summary: 5 Stars
I have to say Rubbermaid has it going on! I had 2 Rubbermaid organizers and one Closetmaid organizer installed in my 16' closet, and Rubbermaid is the best, hands down!
I did not put these up my self, but my friend who did it said it wasn't bad at all. He did purchase different and more "heavy-duty" anchors and did not use the ones that were provided in the box since I have so much stuff to hide in the closet. I will estimate that both Rubbermaid organizers took him about 3 hours to put up. (That's with breaks.)
I've already changed some of the shelving, and it is easy with the unlock/locking system.
I couldn't find a better price than Amazon and the Super Saver Shipping makes it all worth it.
I recommend Rubbermaid for your closet organization needs!
Customer Review: Works and looks better than the photos Summary: 5 Stars
After reading most of the negative reviews, I dreaded putting this guy together, but I knew I needed something more than the cookie-cutter option my landlord installed. The packaging is very compact, but also very heavy; having it shipped to work, I cabbed it back home versus the 5 block walk.
That being said, it was more intimidating to take it apart then it was to actually do the work - it took me 2 to 3 hours, and mostly because I have metal studs in my walls so anchored a lot more than they recommended. In the end, it doubled my closet space - and in San Francisco, closet space matters in an apartment with your girlfriend.
I recommend getting the tie/belt rack extension- holds quite a bit and telescopes out for easy accessiblity.
Customer Review: One of the best non-custom options for closets Summary: 5 Stars
We shopped around like crazy (Home Depot, Walmart, Target, online, Costco, Menards, ect) for an affordable and yet flexible closet organizer and ending up liking the options and price of this one the most.
It was relatively easy to put up. An average skilled person should be just fine.
The only downside to this size is that if you're closer to the 4 foot size then you loose a LOT of the customized options you can create with this unit. You end up throwing away or storing almost half of the shelves/bars because you can't use the other 4 feet. It would also be costly to buy it for a 4 foot space since you're only using half of what you paid for. But for 6 to 8 foot spaces this is one of the best.
Customer Review: Easy Install! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this, but it sat in a box for over 4 months because I was scared of the setup. A friend finally forced me into just doing it, and it took less than an hour for the whole deal. It was so quick that I can't believe I let it sit in a box.
A level (the tube with the bubble) proved very useful.
Anyway, it's sturdy, set up so easily, and I love the bars that let you slide hangers all the way across.
It's also nice looking. If you don't need a formal look, you could isntall this directly on an exposed wall for a sort-of utilitarian look. That's actually what I did, and as long as the clothing is neatly hung, it actually looks great.
No complaints whatsoever.
