Customer Review: Great value, but...

...don't expect the installation to be as simple as advertised. You need to secure it to wall studs where possible or use the plastic toggle bolts that it comes packaged with.
Unfortunately, the plastic toggles didn't work at all for me. I'm an engineer and seasoned DIYer, but I couldn't get the wings of the toggle bolts to open up and grab the back of the drywall. They include a cheap plastic tool to push in the and expand the wings, but it would buckle or break before the wings would expand. And this is in ordinary 1/2" drywall.
I ended up using my own steel toggle bolts and plastic sleeve anchors.
Be prepared for a trip to the hardware store or a very unsafe installation.
Once installed, however, it looks great and is very sturdy. It's a much better value then I could find in stores (including Elfa at The Container Store and ClosetMaid at Home Depot), And includes a lot of shelves and brackets.
I used two of these in a new walk-in closet, mixing and matching parts to get the configuration I wanted. The total cost was about $250. Elfa would have cost over a grand.

I recently bought and installed the deluxe custom closet kit. It was easy to install, which was a really nice surprise. The rails that attach to the wall (from which everything hangs) are VERY sturdy. By using a rail system, the stress on the screws attaching the rail to the wall is distributed, making it very unlikely that (over)loading any part of the attachments will pull the screw from the wall (a problem I had with a cheaper closet system). You can also hang attachments anywhere on the rail - no measuring or re-drilling holes!
It took me an hour to get everything set up, except that I also spent at least a half hour figuring out which of their suggested configurations to use. Very good documentation.
In fact, I liked the Rubbermaid product so much that I also bought the similar system for garages - the FastTrack Supreme Garage Organization Kit.
Both systems, although more expensive than I'd like, are worth the money. Simple, very strong, and configurable. Add-on parts for both are easy to find at Home Depot, Lowes, and Menard's. Highly recommended.

My husband hates closet organizers and this one was no exception....but as it turns out he was making more of it than was necessary. He was getting all squirrely about exactly where everything should go and I kept trying to explain to him that all he had to do was hang the top rail and then I could fiddle around with the other stuff until I got it how I wanted it.
Once he realized that I was right he hung the top rails and I now have the closet of my dreams. It is absolutely perfect, I tried about 70 different configurations before I found the one that was exactly right for me (we bought a 3-6 foot and a 4-8 foot because we have a closet that is an L-shaped walk in), but now it is all together, my stuff is in the closet and I couldn't be happier. The product was very easy to work with, the hardest part is the top rail. It is great because if our needs change we can always reconfigure to make it what we want. Amazon was awesome too. I got my order within 2 days of placing it (with the free super saver shipping). Kudos Rubbermaid and Amazon.

Excellent closet kit. We ordered two 4-8' deluxe custom kits. My husband and I each have an 8' closet. Kits were very easy to install. By the time we got to the second closet we were pretty fast. Took about 1 hour to install the second closet system. The closet design is great in that there is no cutting with the exception of the last rail cover. Love that the hangers slide easily, our previous closet "system" only allowed a couple of inches either way. The flexibility of the closet is amazing. We also ordered for my husband the shoe shelves, tie and belt organizer, and two sliding pants racks. For me I ordered three sets of shoe rods, two pants racks, and one sliding basket. We also ordered 3 upright extension rods for each closet due to the number of accessories we ordered. I had so much fun playing around with the expandable hanging rods, the shelves, and all the accessories. I now have my closet organized and I cannot believe how much room I have for everything. I even have "room to grow". I highly recommend this closet system.Customer Review: Better and more organized closets

Our house came with closets that already had wire-shelving units for the upper shelves and not wanting to waste those by taking those out, we had to look for a better options. A friend introduced us to the Rubbermaid Configurations Closet System and we knew that this was the product for us so we bought 2 sets, intending to install them in 2 closets.
These are very easy to install but we did have to buy separate screws as the screws that came with these are too long and wouldn't go in entirely (we think this is because we have concrete walls). It took us around 3 to 4 hours to install them in both closets and afterwards, we found ourselves with plenty of parts left over. We could've spent a little more time researching and found out that there was a smaller set (the 3-6 foot deluxe custom closet kit) and gone with that instead.
Eventually, we realized that we could just install the extra shelves in our downstairs hall closet and use them as a shoe rack. Now, we're very happy.
We love this product!
